Job Description:
Radiator Cleaner - £20.50
Job Purpose
To clean and maintain train radiators, heating units, ventilation grills, and surrounding areas inside train carriages to ensure safe operation, hygiene, and efficient heating/airflow systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean radiators, heating panels, and ventilation grills inside train
- Remove dust, debris, oil, and grime using approved cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Carry out deep cleaning of hard-to-reach areas around heating units.
- Use specialist cleaning tools such as brushes, vacuums, compressed air, and wipes.
- Follow cleaning schedules set by the Depot Manager.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety procedures and chemical handling rules.
- Report damaged radiators, leaks, or faults found during cleaning.
- Dispose of waste materials safely and correctly.
- Work as part of a depot cleaning team to prepare trains for service.
Working Environment
- Train depots, carriage sidings, or maintenance facilities.
- Work may be indoors or outdoors, during night shifts when trains are out of service.
- Requires standing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
Skills & Requirements
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to follow safety procedures (including COSHH).
- Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Good teamwork and communication.
- Physically fit and comfortable working around trains and machinery.
- Ability to pass rail industry medical and drug/alcohol tests
